Soon, Norwegian Cruise Line announces where its ships will be, all the way out through spring of 2028. Most people read it as news. I read it as a door.

Somewhere in that announcement is a morning you have been half-dreaming about. Alaska, maybe, with the ice close enough to feel. A warm, unhurried afternoon in the Mediterranean after the crowds thin. A long, slow crossing from New York or Miami to Southampton or Lisbon, with nowhere you have to be. You already know which one. You have known for a while.

Soon it stops being a someday and gets a date.

That is all I want you to do with the news when it lands. Not study it. Want it. Find the one that makes your chest do something. 2028 is the year to dream, and to live your dream!

The rest is mine. I read these the way other people read the hometown paper, and I already know which futures just opened and which are hiding where you would never scroll. From here in the middle of the country, your part is a flight and a few good days, and those I handle.

What I'm wondering when it drops

  • Do Epic and Gem keep carrying the Mediterranean, or does newer tonnage finally get a European summer?
  • Does Galveston pick up a second ship, and does the Gulf move up from Viva to a Prima Plus hull?

So pick the one. Then tell me.

I will already be looking.
